Who is
Tom Cottar?

Meet Tom Cottar, a self-proclaimed word nerd and lover of people, caffeine and adventure! 

  

Tom is co-founder and CEO of Backpack Friends, Inc., a nonprofit charity headquartered in Austin, TX that is responsible for feeding thousands of children while away from their school campus each weekend. 

​

His love for music and writing let to his award-winning songs (Old Country Road, The Devil I Know, Beautiful, and One More Mile) and more. His heart for veterans moved him to create and release the single, On The Inside, a moving tribute that helps fund treatment for those dealing with PTSD. As part of chronicling his own journey, Tom released the book, Unleashing Your Creativity: Lessons From A Reluctant Creative, to help others begin to see how everyone is designed to be creative-- whether in the arts, in business, or in managing a house full of kids!

Recently adopted into the Chickamauga Indian Nation, Tom is also working to create a high-tech, high-touch curriculum that teaches the indigenous Cherokee dialect of Arote to native American members of the Chickamauga tribes.
